Missouri Republican Assembly

March 1, 2010: Allen Icet’s campaign for Missouri Auditor gained serious momentum in a record-setting Statewide Lincoln Days this weekend in St. Louis. Icet, the only conservative in the Republican primary for Missouri auditor, dominated a straw-poll of Republican stalwarts conducted at statewide Lincoln Days by Survey Missouri, LLC, an independent pollster. Icet took nearly 90 percent of the votes in the straw poll, beating primary opponent Tom Schweich 87.31 percent to 12.69 percent.

Icet also earned the endorsement of the Missouri Republican Assembly. The MRA is a broad-based coalition of Reagan conservatives dedicated to tax cuts, tax reform, the right to bear arms, pro-life values, and the advancement of traditional Republican values. They support Republican candidates most likely to uphold conservative principles.

Icet campaign manager Keith Kirk said he was not surprised by the weekend’s events. “Conservatives overwhelmingly support Allen Icet,” said Kirk. “ Allen has conservative friends and supporters in every community in our state.”

“This campaign will be a true test of Missouri’s conservative values,” continued Kirk. That’s why over 200 conservative activist held a rally in support of Allen’s campaign this past Saturday afternoon. They came from all corners of our great state to support Allen’s values and his campaign. Come August, I think we’ll find that Missourians will proudly join in Allen Icet’s effort to bring fiscal sanity and common sense conservative values to the office of the Missouri Auditor.”

ICET’S REPUBLICAN OPPONENT SUPPORTS CLAIRE McCASKILL

PRESS RELEASE

Tuesday, February 23, 2010

JEFFERSON CITY, MO – Allen Icet filed for Missouri Auditor on the first day of filing Tuesday in Jefferson City.  Icet, the current chairman of the Missouri House Budget Committee, has served the past eight years in the state legislature protecting Missouri taxpayers. As the only conservative in the Republican field for Auditor, Icet said he was running to continue serving Missouri taxpayers.

“Missourians deserve an auditor with experience working on the state budget and the courage to stand-up to advocates of big government,” Icet said. “I’m the only candidate for Auditor with an actual history of protecting the hard-earned dollars of Missouri taxpayers, and I’m running to ensure we have a state Auditor who will stand-up for taxpayers.”

“In tough budget times like these, it is vitally important to have an Auditor who knows the state budget inside-and-out,” Icet continued. “With seven-plus years of service on the House Budget Committee, I know the state budget better than anyone else in the state. As Auditor, I’ll use that expertise to expose waste, fraud, and abuse and ensure that our tax dollars are put to their most effective use.”

Icet’s campaign enjoys broad support amongst conservative Missourians. He has been endorsed by over 90 conservative elected officials. Recently, he has led the way for conservative Missouri Republicans battling huge increases in federal spending championed by Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskill. Icet’s opponent in the Auditor’s race, by contrast, is a McCaskill supporter, having donated money to her campaign and failing to support Jim Talent in his 2006 bid for the U.S. Senate against McCaskill.
