PRESS RELEASE

February 22, 2010

Senator Rob Mayer (R-Dexter) endorsed Missouri House Budget Chairman Allen Icet for Missouri Auditor Thursday citing Allen Icet’s extensive budget experience and fiscal conservative prowess.

“It is my pleasure to endorse State Representative Allen Icet for the position of Missouri State Auditor,” Senator Mayer declared. “His experience in working on the state budget for the past several years has given him the insight necessary to deal with compliance issues regarding how public money should be spent and accounted for.”

Sen. Mayer went on to praise Icet’s work on behalf of Missouri taxpayers. “He and I work closely since I serve as Chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee. Allen has made several trips to our Senate district and is well aware of the needs of our region,” Mayer said.

Allen Icet has consistently campaigned on his conservative credentials, of which, Senator Mayer gave credit to. “Allen is a staunch conservative and can be trusted to do his job in a way that we can all be proud of. It is without reservation that I endorse Allen Icet for Missouri State Auditor.”

Senator Mayer joins the laundry list of Republican endorsements Allen Icet has received for his bid to be Missouri’s next State Auditor. This list includes, Senator Jason Crowell of Cape Girardeau, Senator Delbert Scott of Lowry and four other State Senators.

ICET RESPONDS TO SEN. McCASKILL: PRACTICE FISCAL DISCIPLINE IN WASHINGTON BEFORE CRITICIZING MISSOURI LEADERS WHO BALANCE BUDGETS

allen-icet-logo-small

SAYS HE’S WILLING TO LISTEN TO McCASKILL’S IDEAS ON STATE BUDGET

AS SOON AS SHE TAKES ACTION ON BEHALF OF MISSOURI TAXPAYERS

Jefferson City, MO – State Representative Allen Icet issued a stinging rebuke Wednesday to Senator Claire McCaskill’s claim that Republicans in the Missouri General Assembly were attempting to “have it both ways” on federal stimulus money. Icet, the only conservative candidate for Missouri Auditor, responded to McCaskill’s charge with a letter pointing to her reckless spending, and urging her to take action against the free-spending ways of President Obama and her liberal allies in Washington.

“My advice,” wrote Icet, “(1) balance the federal budget just as we do every single year in Missouri, (2) take cap-and-trade off the table; (3) kill the current iteration of “reform” and instead allow the states wide room to experiment with free market approaches to health care; and (4) take a stand next time President Obama insists on raising the federal debt limit.”

“After you have completed those four tasks,” he continued, “we will be eager to hear how you would suggest balancing the Missouri state budget. Until then, I’m afraid you just don’t have the credibility to give advice on balancing the state budget and protecting Missouri taxpayers.”

McCaskill is supported by Icet’s opponent in the Republican Party. In 2001, his opponent donated $500 to her campaign for Missouri Auditor. In 2006, his opponent failed to vote for her Republican opponent, Jim Talent, in McCaskill’s race for the United States Senate despite the fact that it was the most-watched race in the country at the time.

St. Louis Police Officers Endorse Icet for Auditor

allen-icet-logo-small

PRESS RELEASE

February 4th, 2010

St. Louis, MO The St. Louis Police Association endorsed Rep. Allen Icet’s campaign for Missouri State Auditor Tuesday.

President Thomas Walsh said the group endorsed Icet for his commitment to public safety and to protecting Missouri taxpayers. “Our organization voted at their last meeting to endorse you because we appreciate the support you have given us over the years. Your support has ensured the rights of our police officers,” said Walsh.  “The St. Louis Police Officers’ Association specifically and Law Enforcement in general thank you for the commitment you have bestowed upon the police community in the state legislature.”

Icet thanked the members of the Police Officers’ Association for their work. “I’m thrilled to receive this endorsement from yet another group of civic-minded Missourians,” said Icet. “Police officers put their lives on the line every day to keep our streets safe.”

“As state auditor,” Icet continued, “I won’t face the same danger that these officers brave every day. But I will serve with the same sense of public purpose to protect Missouri taxpayers from waste, fraud, and abuse.”

Icet is the only candidate in the race for Auditor with actual experience protecting Missouri taxpayers. He has served on the Missouri House Budget Committee for seven years, including five as budget chairman. Thanks to Icet, Missouri’s budget is in much better shape than the budgets of other states at the present time. Without Allen’s leadership on the House Budget Committee, Missouri taxpayers would likely be facing an insurmountable budget deficit.

Icet Pledges to Conduct Vigorous Audit of Federal Stimulus Funds

allen-icet-logo-small

PRESS RELEASE

January 13th, 2010

Jefferson City, MO – Allen Icet pledged today that his first action as State Auditor would be to conduct a vigorous audit of federal stimulus funds received by the state of Missouri.

“We owe it to Missouri taxpayers to ensure that our tax dollars are being used as intended,” said Icet. “As Missouri Auditor, I’ll keep careful watch over all of the stimulus funds coming into our state for fraud and effectiveness. If there’s fraud, we’ll put an end to it. Where there’s ineffectiveness, we’ll expose it and I will work to try and re-direct funds to better serve the tax payers of Missouri.”

Icet said his audit plan was motivated by news reports that federal stimulus funds had not “saved or created” nearly as many jobs as claimed by the Obama Administration.

“The Obama Administration might think funny math is good enough for stimulus funds, but I don’t.” Icet said. “Missouri taxpayers deserve to know whether this flood of new spending is working as President Obama claimed it would.”

In December, the Obama Administration quietly changed the way it counts jobs “saved or created” by the stimulus. Critics have since charged that the changes make jobs “saved or created” numbers even more misleading.

Icet is the only candidate in the Auditor’s race with experience in Missouri government and an actual record of defending Missouri taxpayers. In eight years on the House Budget Committee, he has protected Missouri taxpayers by cutting taxes and eliminating millions of dollars in waste in state programs.
